This is a vacancy for a hybrid or on-site role at our HQ in Tutzing (South of Munich). We encourage applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender identity.
As we expand our investment into building a modern, scalable Finance data infrastructure, we are seeking an experienced Data Analytics Engineer – Finance (m/f/x) to join our internal Data & Analytics department. This department is part of Lobster's internal Finance and Operations function. It is responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of our internal data infrastructure, including the Finance Data Mart, data pipelines, and the analytical models that power financial reporting and decision-making within Lobster DATA.
In this role, you will be responsible for building and owning our Finance Data Mart on a modern dbt + Snowflake stack, translating complex Finance and business requirements into reliable, well-documented data models, supporting our CFO and Management with KPI reporting, and enabling high-quality investor reporting for our PE partner.
Ready to make an impact?
Data Analytics Engineer – Finance
Tutzing, Metropolregion München, München
Full-time
Permanent employee
Position Overview:
You’ll get to take ownership of:
- Designing and building dbt models across our full layer architecture (Staging → Intermediate → Marts → Reporting), with clean, tested, and documented transformation logic
- Migrating our existing SQL-based data warehouse to Snowflake on AWS, with the Finance Data Mart as the first productive output
- Implementing our Finance KPI framework, covering ARR, NRR, Churn, Subscription Flips, Cloud Margin and 65+ additional defined metrics - end to end
- Building and maintaining data pipelines from our core source systems: Vemas, Datev, HubSpot, and Personio
- Collaborating directly with the CFO and Finance team to turn business requirements into reliable, self-serve data products
- Supporting ad-hoc analyses and deep dives for PE reporting, where speed and precision matter equally
- Helping eliminate single-person dependencies in our current process by replacing manual logic with maintainable, version-controlled code
We’d love to meet someone with:
- 3-5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or business intelligence
- Solid dbt skills - you understand layer architecture and know why transformation logic belongs in int_* models, not dashboards
- Hands-on experience with cloud DWH environments such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Strong SQL skills, including window functions, CTEs, and performance optimisation
- The ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders, translating Finance requirements into data models and explaining data decisions back to a CFO
- Working knowledge of SaaS Finance metrics (ARR, NRR, Churn, GRR) is a clear plus
- Experience with ERP or billing system data (e.g. Datev) would be a plus
- Proficiency in English; German skills at a conversational level are a must-have
You can look forward to:
- A modern, spacious office with a view of Lake Starnberg in Tutzing
- Subsidised lunches in our in-house restaurant
- A personal learning and development budget
- 30 vacation days per year
- 2 additional paid days off on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
- Up to 30 days of remote work per year from any EU country
- Bike leasing through our partnership with JobRad
- Opportunity to work flexibly from home
- Team evenings every Thursday with refreshments covered by the company
- A company pension plan (bAV)
